Project Innovation Awards
Recognising excellence and innovation in water engineering projects throughout the world
IWA established the Project Innovation Awards (PIA) to recognise excellence and innovation in water engineering projects throughout the world, in keeping with IWA's mission of connecting water professionals worldwide to lead the development of effective and sustainable approaches to water management.
Established in 2006, the PIA runs on a two-year cycle, with entries competing first at the regional level in one of the regional bases - Asia Pacific, East East, Europe and West Asia and North America*. Regional winners are then advanced into the global level competition for the Global Grand Awards which will be presented at IWA World Water Congress in Busan, Korea in September 2012.
The 2012 Project Innovation Awards, the fourth edition of this prestigious global water engineering awards programme, kick off with the opening of submissions for the Europe and West Asia Regional PIA in April 2011.
The 2012 Asia Pacific and East Asia Regional PIA opened for submission in June 2011.
This year, the IWA 2012 PIA features a NEW award category - MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS. This category applies to Marketing and Communications related to a water/wastewater project, operations/management of related facilities, customer service activities, or public education campaigns.

The PIA is open to applicants who may be individuals, and companies, organisations, governmental bodies, or any combination of the above, whether or not they are members of IWA.
If you have an innovative water engineering project, IWA invites you to submit your project and be recognised for originality, innovation and engineering excellence.

*Update: The North American Regional PIA Competition is conducted through The American Academy of Environmental Engineers' (AAEE) "Excellence in Environmental Engineering (E3) Awards".
