Engaging members - facilitating collaboration

The IWA network facilitates multi-level cooperation among its diverse membership groups, and sharing of the very best of knowledge on water science, research and management worldwide.

IWA Specialist Groups

Specialist Groups represent the core vehicle for issue-based interaction on scientific, technical and management topics. Specialist Groups facilitate cooperation, networking and knowledge generation, primarily through regular conferences and publications. Task Groups are generally formed by specialist groups to perform a defined task, for example the production of IWA Scientific and Technical Reports, Manuals of Best Practice and Position Papers.

In response to increasing member interest in crosscutting research and dialogues across IWA Specialist Groups, two Specialist Group “Clusters” – the Bio- Cluster and the Smart Water Cluster have been formed.

Women in Water

An emerging objective of IWA is to promote the role of women within the water sector. As such IWA is actively promoting women’s participation and career development to higher management levels by developing a programme for women’s leadership in water.
