Design, Operation and Costs of Large Wastewater Treatment Plants
The objective of the Group is to contribute to a continuous improving of design, operation and economics of large wastewater treatment plants by sharing knowledge and experience. Every four years the group organizes a specialized conference. The conference venues circulate between Vienna, Budapest and Prague. The conferences provide a platform where researchers, scientists and practitioners discuss about the presentations and posters. Especially practitioners are encouraged to present progress reports on case histories. To promote the implementation of research findings is the specific feature of this Group.
The last specialised conference of the Group on Design, Operation and Economics of Large Wastewater Treatment Plants was held in Budapest, Hungary 04-08 September 2011. Task Group
Benchmarking of Control Strategies for Wastewater Treatment Plants
The goal of the Task Group is to promote the use of the benchmark simulation protocols described above and produce a Scientific and Technical Report (as part of IWA Publishing’s series). The task group will maintain a website for publication of on-going activities (www.benchmarkwwtp.org - already in existence). Interest in the benchmark protocols has been extensive and the website is seen as the best platform for communication with interested parties, including getting feedback and receiving input from benchmark users, whether they are experienced or just getting started. Dissemination of results as well as inviting the research community to comment and influence the direction of the work will also be initiated via conferences and workshops.
