Public and Customer Communications (Previously: Marketing and Communications)

The Group’s focus is widely drawn and includes all aspects of proactive and reactive communications, both external and internal. The intent is to build good relations and understanding between an organisation and its wide range of customers.

The aims of this group are to:

  1. provide a forum for the exchange of best practice among communication specialists in water services organisations;
  2. help build good relations with stakeholders by widening their understanding of the water utilities;
  3. raise environmental knowledge and awareness among stakeholders and other interested parties;
  4. learn from the experience of others, e.g., crisis management, drought management, and to understand what works and what doesn’t;
  5. keep abreast of emerging technologies and communication opportunities

Project Innovation Award 2012

In keeping with IWA's mission of "connecting water professionals worldwide to lead the development of  effective and sustainable approaches to water management", IWA established the Project Innovation Awards Programme to recognise excellence and innovation in water engineering projects throughout world, as identified by five key criteria:

•  Originality and Innovation
•  Future Value to the engineering profession
•  Social, Economic and Sustainable design
•  Complexity
•  Exceeds client/owner needs
