Watershed and River Basin Management
The goal of the W&RBM Specialist Group is to promote the understanding, utilization, and values of integrated watershed management approaches for the beneficial and sustainable use of rivers and watersheds worldwide. It seeks to achieve this by sharing of expertise and experience among its members and with other interested individuals and organizations, organizing specialist conferences, issuance of newsletters, undertaking cooperative projects, and engaging in other activities under the auspices of the International Water Association.

Members of the W&RBM Specialist Group represent academia, all levels of government, from municipal to national, to international, as well as the manufacturing and consulting industries.
The the 12th International Specialized Conference on Watershed and River Basin Management was held in September 2011 in Recife, Brazil.
The W&RBM Specialist Group is planning to set-up Task Forces on selected special issues, such as adaptation to drought and scarcity, new methods / models to predict impacts on a regional scale and organise the 13th International Specialized Conference on Watershed and River Basin Management in 2014, presenting a very special opportunity to engage innovative discussion on all subjects of the above mentioned fields
