IWAs Expertise Exchange programme is a unique partnership approach which makes a real difference in building capacity and strengthening technical and governance systems necessary to deliver better water and sanitation services to all. IWAs aim is to foster long term relationships with both external organisations and its members to strengthen skills and performance in the water sector to ultimately improve water management and sanitation around the world.
Water and sanitation is a cornerstone to global development and is vital to achieving the millennium development goals. The foundation of IWA is the wealth of knowledge and capacity in the diversity of its members, which when systematically mobilized and shared, can facilitate the effective participation of both developed and developing countries in strengthening global water management. Accessing quality expertise in a timely fashion in critical element for some requests (e.g. the 2005 Tsunami) and IWA is positing itself on a global level to act in an effective and comprehensive way to respond to these opportunities, by mobilizing and involving members.
This system would allow adaptation by external agencies wanting to access and manage expertise on a shared basis. Promoting broader access to expertise through leveraging an expanded and common approach to sharing expertise is a critical element of working on a global level to advocate change. By Strengthening inter-agency network in the water sector will enable to help individuals and organistaions to work smarter. By entering your details on the IWAs roster management system, will allow you to facilitate easier exchange of key resources, experiences and lesson learnt in the water sector, while keeping you informed of relevant experiences and opportunities.
We identify and match experts within the IWA network with counterpart organizations searching for specialist inputs or interventions for consultancy, research and capacity building purposes. This brokering service or information exchange mechanism provides key knowledge services which will help you with your daily work by facilitating synergies between institutions in the water sector. We achieve this through matching the demand for skills and advice from external organisations with IWA professional’s members who work in water sector in 130 different countries. Members generally work on a voluntary basis to share knowledge and technical expertise to support a diverse range of projects.
