Danube and the Black Sea

 

The IWA Danube and Black Sea regional office is based in Bucharest, Romania. The office was opened in November 2009 and is hosted by the Romanian Water Association.

The office will serve as the hub for coordinating IWA’s knowledge exchange and programmatic activities including regional participation in IWA’s Specialist Groups, scientific and speciality conferences, capacity development and training (including Water Operator Partnerships), and furthering key IWA programmes such as Water Safety Plans and Young Water Professionals.

Briefly, the IWA Danube – Black Sea Regional Office aims to accomplish the following objectives:

  • Aims to bring IWA as an Association closer to the Danube – Black Sea region
  • Empowers and Supports national associations to organize and implement a set of IWA events / activities in the region
  • Raises the profile and visibility, demonstrates the IWA values to non-members and encourages them to join the Association

Key responsibilities and activities of the regional office:

  • Extends IWA membership in the region
  • Works with IWA HQ to coordinate global programme at the region level
  • Improves the relationship between IWA and Governing Members supporting the annually national events
  • Organizes regional events: YPC, Speciality conference, Focuses in key areas of interest: Non-Revenue-Water, Water Safety Plan, Utilities Management, e-learning
  • Promotes WOPs in the region
