IWA SG Smart Water Cluster
In response to increasing member interest in crosscutting research and dialogues across IWA Specialist Groups, two Specialist Group “Clusters” – the Bio Cluster and the Smart Water Cluster have been formed.
The Smart Water Cluster works closely with the European Desalination Society (EDS) and its focus is to emphasise the acquisition and development of diverse water resources – for example surface water, groundwater, reuse, desalination and water conservation – and to develop strategies for offsetting risks and challenges typically associated with a single resource option.
The Smart Water Cluster includes below Specialist Groups:
-
Benchmarking and Performance Assessment
-
Efficient Urban Water Systems
-
Ground Water Restoration and Management
-
Health-related Microbial Biology
-
Membrane Technology
-
Nano and Water - Application of Nanoparticles, Nanoengineered Materials and Nanotechnology
-
Rain Water Harvesting
-
System Analysis and Integrated Assessment
-
Urban Drainage
-
Water Loss
-
Water Reuse
Other groups with similar interests will be able to join the cluster in the future.
The Smart Water Cluster has held meeting and workshop in The World Water Congress in Montreal 2010. And the Cluster is planning cluster meeting and a series workshops for the near future. Smart Wate Cluster has held a Cluster meeting in PWN right before the IWA Leading Edge technology conference in Amsterdam (June 5, 2011). And the upcoming cluster workshop is going to be held in Tokyo in conjunciton with IWA ASPIRE conference (October 2 and 4, 2011). There will be one session on Smart Water Cluster within Utilities Leaders Forum on Sunday October 2, and one day Smart Water workshop on Tuesday 4th of october 2011 during the ASPIRE conference.
